Intute Arts and Humanities: New Year in Japan
There are many traditions associated with the New Year - seeing the first sunrise from a mountain or beach is one, but the first visit of the year to a Shinto shrine and/or Buddhist temple (hatsumōde) is the most important. My most memorable New Year ever was spent with friends and thousands of others on a cold clear night in Nara, one…

OH MY DEAR BUDDHA!!! IT IS HOT AS HAIL HERE IN TOKYO!!!
Also, believe it or not, I spilled a beer on my ADSL router and ZAPPED IT!!! <*@v@*> But no biggie, my ISP is sending a new one into Pongi HQ on Monday. Until then I'll be in and out of the nearby internet cafe known as "MANBOO!" :O)
Stay tuned!
Lob ;O)
P.S. Be sure to check out the all-new Japanese Bon Odori Dance Video 2007 IT'S ON!!! <*@v@*>
Thank you for singing up wiith the "Pongi Peace Platoon" [P.P.P.] (TM) and, COME ON DOWN MR ERIC YOU ARE THE NEXT CONTESTANT ON the "KING-SIZED KANJI QUIZ SHOW!"
But, during your stay here, whatever happens, keep studying NIHONGO my friend. And you got it really, really want it - on a daily basis- with FREAKIN' PASSION in order to really get it. And, I strongly encourage you and any other newcomers from abroad to start planning on studying on your own on a daily basis and then, also, at least once or twice a week within a group class of some kind or another within your first year or so in Japan. Seriously, don't hesitate and wait, cause then you'll never do it, never learn it and you'll have many more problems and "stressful episodes" for sure. So, in order to avoid any delays, right after you arrive, just go out and get together with all kinds of nice people. And, for your own sake, please don't miss this once-in-a -lifetime opportunity to really make yourself much, much more than you are now. Japanese is a tough languge, but once you know it well enough, It will all change your life in so many great and beneficial ways.
Sore dewa, mata ne!
